Chingay reflections :))

Eugene:

Through the Chingay performance I deeply felt the bond between our different races, different people of different backgrounds all coming together to form this parade. I felt that all the efforts that they made were all worth the time as the different performances were all amazing. They tried to incorporate many different performances that are unique to different races and countries for example, there was ballet, salsa, Chinese dance, Indian dance and more. I find that they were trying to emphasize on racial harmony, one that not many countries. On the whole, if I was given the chance to go again I would definitely go as I feel the performances were really meaningful. Dnh

Ming Yi:

Chingay, is a performance where people from the community come together for a common purpose, to put up the best performance for Chingay, also known as 妆艺大游行. Also, Chingay includes performances from people from different races. It shows that Singapore is a racial harmonious country, thus we celebrate racial harmony day. Chingay shows the Singapore spirit as people from different walks of life perform together on the same stage.

Yih Jie:

During the Chingay parade, i saw many things. Somethings i have seen before, somethings i have not seen before and somethings i might never see again. I saw people with different cultures, i saw people of different races, i saw people of different nationalities, all coming together to create this amazing performance for us. The whole parade had a very good festive mood and i somehow felt that everyone there was very happy. They also lighten up the mood with fireworks, music, confetti and many others. I would like to thank the performers for their hard work to put up such a great performance as they made something i initially deemed boring to turn out fun. I would definitely go again next year if i have the chance.

Wen Qing:

Chingay 2014 has been a fantastic experience. Chingay consists of performance from different races. This promotes the racial harmony in Singapore. When I see people of different races coming together and working hard for Chingay, I strongly feel how bonded Singapore is. Also, different schools participated in the Knit With One Heart whereby students in the schools work together to knit a banner. Although making the banner requires alot of time and effort, we managed to complete the banners just in time for chingay! As the fireworks shoot up and light up the night sky, I suddenly feel how lucky I am to be born in Singapore and im very proud to be a Singaporean. I hope I will have the opportunities to go for next year's chingay!

Si Min:

This year Chingay was Awesome! It was such an meaningful event ! Just like this year theme!!!!!
The theme this year meant how people of different ethnicities and nationalities gather together to perform Chingay 2014. Just like the finale , many different clothes banner were showcased. Eventhough the clothes banner seemed easy to make but in fact it was so tiring and take lots of effort and time to do it , it's like how the participants of the performance flew to Singapore and perform. They  used their free time to practice for Chingay and as the saying goes " 台上三分钟,台下十年功"没有付出努力是不会有成果的。

CNY!!!

RED OF COURSE! In Singapore , when Chinese New Year is reaching , almost everywhere in Singapore is decorated in red lanterns , red light , flowers that are ALSO IN RED.ALMOST EVERYTHING  IS IN RED !!! Especially in Chinatown, IT IS JUST LIKE A RED SINGAPORE.

AND HONGBAO IS OBVIOUSLY THE SYMBOL OF CHINESE NEW YEAR!! EVERYONE LOVES RECEIVING HONGBAO. And it's a tradition every year , for married couples to give single people , especially work colleagues and children hong bao.And people always wonder why must hong bao be RED ? Why cant it be YELLOW? Or even BLUE?  LET ME TELL YOU THE REASON WHY :)It's actually because the Colour of the hong bao which is red , symbolizes good luck and it wards off evil spirit. And there is a believe that the number 4 should not appeared in the amount of money in the HONGBAO as it means die in Chinese.

REFLECTIONS:))))

EUGENE:

I learnt that a picture paints a thousand words! It depicts the the scene at the moment. Showing the landscape scenery. I feel that a picture tells us what it means to be there but not there at the same time.
We learn how to observe and communicate with the people around us. Showing clear evidence of what is going on. Examples of stress, tiredness, happiness and sadness. Who r the people who care, sleeps little and that's how we observe.

MING YI:

From the past three weeks, I learnt alot of skills from the CID classes such as how to gather information from sources such as pictures. However, the information gathered might not be accurate as it is based on your observation and inference skills. You also nid some statements from the person or witnesses to confirm your assumptions or change it. We should never judge a book by its cover and just assume like the incident about the female and male beggar.

SI MIN:

From the past 3 weeks , I have learnt lots of things.
Such as in lesson 2, we learnt how to gather meaning and thoughts form what we see, and to understand that what we see might not always be the truth and we have seen poverty in other Countries and even in Singapore.
We also learnt the basics of photography skills and the skills to make our blog posts more interesting and meaningful. We also tried using our observation skills to describe the environment in our school.

I think I have learnt a lot in lesson 2. As it was our first lesson and a picture really meant a thousand words. It can be a simple picture like a child and a toy . But it can also mean a child that is abandoned but he or she is only left with a toy that was given by his or her parents as a last gift :)

WEN QING:

CID lessons have taught me numerous stuffs. I learnt not to judge a book by it's cover. We must have evidence to be able to judge, and in this way, we will not hurt anyone!
Also, we learn more about other countries. We learnt how some of the people in other countries are treated, what kind of environment they live in. And from these informations, we learnt to appreciate what we have.

YIH JIE:

In the past few CID lessons, we learnt quite a few things. We learnt that a picture paints a thousand words and it might not always be how we see it. Just like in the case of the beggar , she may look vey pitiful but she actually works for a syndicate.  In another lesson, we did observations about RV's environment and people. And at the previous lesson , we learnt about giving a good presentation. Where we had some practice and learnt the attributes to do so. I learnt that we should not judge a book by its cover like how we should not offer help to the women working for a syndicate just because she appears pitiful.
